Interactive science museum with a living Amazonian flooded rainforest
Originally opened in 1981 and vastly expanded in 2004, incorporating an Art Nouveau 1904 brick building designed by Josep Domènech i Estapà.
Descends five subterranean levels around an Acariquara tree ramp, featuring a 1,000-square-meter living Amazonian Flooded Forest (Bosc Inundat) with capybaras and pirarucu fish, plus a 90-ton Geological Wall.
The Amazonian greenhouse generates real torrential rainstorms every 15 minutes, maintaining 85% humidity and 28°C temperatures year-round.
