Museu Picasso
World-class collection of early works and Las Meninas series in Gothic palaces
Opened in 1963 on Carrer de Montcada, this was the first museum dedicated to Picasso's work and the only one founded during his lifetime with his personal secretary Jaume Sabartés.
Occupies five adjoining 13th and 14th-century Catalan Gothic palaces, displaying over 4,200 works tracing Picasso's youth in Barcelona, the Blue Period, and the complete 58-piece Las Meninas series.
Picasso painted his revolutionary masterwork 'Science and Charity' at age 15 in his studio on Carrer de la Plata, winning an honorable mention in Madrid.
