Tour Saint-Jacques
Flamboyant Gothic solitary bell tower and historic departure point of the Camino de Santiago
Constructed between 1509 and 1523 as the bell tower of the Church of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie. The church was demolished during the French Revolution in 1797, but the 52-meter Gothic tower was preserved.
A solitary Flamboyant Gothic obelisk of stone lace, linking medieval alchemy, pilgrimage pathways, and the pioneering atmospheric science of Blaise Pascal.
Legend claims the legendary 14th-century alchemist Nicolas Flamel financed the original church through his successful transmutation of base metals into gold.
